John Weber Reinvented

An Interview with John Weber: South Carolina Voyager Magazine

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Weber.

Hi John, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am from Chagrin Falls Ohio originally and I guess you could say a lifelong Cleveland sports fan. The bulk of my experience has been managing sales and marketing operations for developers of luxury master-planned communities. In a few words – I sell and market real estate. I have had a great career working and living in some of this countries more beautiful areas. I started in Williamsburg, Virginia then moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina. There I managed the sales team in Hilton Head Plantation for a few years. We then moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina where I was in charge of marketing and sales for Governor’s Club. From there we lived in several towns in Florida: Vero Beach, Miami, Naples and Tampa. These communities had outstanding real estate, great second homes, and resort communities. The work was great, and the golf was even better! Golf is a perk of my job and I love it! I was lucky because I learned from the very best professionals who went on to become very successful. Our sales teams sold a combined volume of over one billion in sales. In those 30 years, I managed some of the country’s finest luxury communities like Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club, Windsor, The Ford Plantation, Hilton Head Plantation, and Governor’s Club to name a few. One of my last jobs was working for a developer who built and managed Ritz Carlton’s in the Caribbean. Boy, that was a great job!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Working for ruthless developers who only cared about making sales and nothing more. I was fired several times because I made too much money and the developers figured they could save money if they got ride of me. The crash of 2008 left me without a job. At the time I lived in Florida which was ground zero for the real estate crash.

I was forced to sell credit card machines and wait tables just to put food on the table.

In 2009 my 19 year son was killed in a gun accident. With the loss of a job and the death of my son, things looked pretty bad!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been in the real estate business for 37 years. Most of my career was working for developers selling luxury homes and lots. Once we sold the property out, I had to look for another job. In 2016 my wife and I moved to Hilton Head Island to settle and sell real estate.

I knew no one and did not have any business what so ever. The funds were low, so I decided to start a YouTube Channel. I got my wife to subscribe and we both wondered how I would ever get any subscribers. I kept pushing and pushing. after about 6 months of doing a video each week and real estate in Hilton Head and Bluffton things started to move.

Today I have a team of 5 other agents to work with buyers and sellers. I also have over 6,000 subscribers who follow the channel.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Be creative, don’t do what everyone else is doing.

Have a very strong mind set to succeed. Push yourself each day to succeed.

Be strong
